Remove portrait backgrounds and export full-size images locally.

Remove a portrait background in a browser worker, refine the mask, and export a new image.

How to use

Drop, choose, or paste a JPG, PNG, or WebP portrait.
Select Remove background. The local portrait model loads only when needed.
Compare before and after, then choose transparency, a solid color, or a blurred background.
Use edge shift, feather, and opacity strength for small corrections.
Export a full-size PNG, WebP, or JPG. Choose PNG or WebP to preserve transparency.

Limits and best results

  • Up to 20 MB, 50 megapixels, and 32,767 pixels on either side.
  • The bundled MODNet model is scoped to people and portrait photos.
  • Bright, high-contrast portraits with a visible subject work best.

Products, animals, transparent objects, and complex scenes may have incomplete edges. This is a portrait-only first version.

Privacy

The original image, generated mask, preview, and exports remain on your device. The roughly 25 MB model is downloaded on first use and may be cached by your browser.

Limits and troubleshooting

The model targets people, not general products or animals. If loading fails, check model downloads and retry with a smaller portrait. The browser uses WebGPU when available and can fall back to WASM. Refine hair and low-contrast edges in the preview before exporting. PNG or WebP can preserve transparency; JPG requires an opaque background. Keep the original image.
